This series depicts experience incarnated as portraits. Each portrait, encompassing the light and the dark, the glorious and the hideous, the good and the evil, provides an answer to the question “What is the physical form of a period of time?” emphasizing the largeness of what is and the natural expression of the human spirit.
The series is generated through feeding a machine learning algorithm images of experiences. The algorithm, trained to produce portraits, outputs the incarnation of that experience.
Embodiment looks to history where mankind sees lightning and conjures Zeus; where native American Indians recognize lives in the animals, rocks, and trees. These figures guide, providing a moral compass, through their experiences. These symbolic figures are lost to us today. Embodiment creates a new generation of mythic imagination.
